The Information Engineering and Management (IEM) at UAB was one of the first programs in United States developed to train corporate leaders by developing a real-world mix of technical and management issues.

Designed by industry experts for working professionals, UAB’s Information Engineering and Management (IEM) graduate program provides the strong technical and business skills to address the pressing needs of the engineering field. Clients of the 20-month master’s program graduate with higher earning potential and the knowledge, experience, and personal contacts to take them to the top of their industry. Weekend classes and an emphasis on peer-to-peer learning and collaboration make the IEM program ideal for motivated engineers and non-engineers looking for that professional edge. The program was developed in partnership with CIOs, CTOs, and CEOs from organizations across the U.S. to promote the technical and managerial knowledge that they themselves use every day and look for in their executives.

Schedule

Classes meet for three consecutive days during the summer term and approximately one weekend per month (Friday and Saturday) during the fall and spring terms. The program completes in 20 months with the participants earning a Master's of Engineering (MSEng) degree.

"I selected the IEM program because of the technology component coupled with a business emphasis, and it delivered. I wanted a program that wouldn't break my budget and yet provide me with a quality level of instruction, and the IEM program fit the bill. It was a great program, the instructors were terrific, and the once a month format fit into my schedule. It was interesting, informative and highly rewarding. It's a challenging program but I loved every minute of it and gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from it. The thing I value most is how much support I received, not only from my instructors, but also from my fellow students who made it such a great learning experience."
